Whatever the cause, Sevier County, home to both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge is also the site of over 25,000 weddings a year, which makes the area the hottest spot for weddings east of the Mississippi! To enhance the lure of the area as the appropriate place to tie the knot, several wedding chapels and catering services await to assist in planning the perfect event.

There are three places in Sevier County that marriage licenses may be obtained:

• The office of Sevier County Court Clerk, Sevier County Courthouse in Sevierville. Hours are 8:00am - 4:30pm, Mon through Fri and Sat 8:00-11:00 am
  
• The Gatlinburg Shilling Center at 405 Reagan Drive. Hours are 8:30am - 4:00pm, Mon and Fri, Wed 9:00am - 3:00pm.
  
• The Pigeon Forge City Hall, Pine Mountain Road. Hours are 9:00am - 5:00pm, Mon through Fri.
  

Residency is not necessary, however proof of age by birth certificate or driver's license and the cost of license at $36 is all that's required.
